Patient Advocacy Group

The NICRC Patient Advocacy Group was formed out of a need to help others who are diagnosed with cancer. The group is involved with various approaches to achieve this goal. Some of those methods are;

  • Increasing Awareness of Clinical Trials
  • Support Groups
  • Early Detection Awareness
  • Child/Family Counseling
  • Transportation for those without
  • Child Care Issues
  • Speaking with patients after their first consultation with a physician
  • Insurance Issues
  • Informing Patients about how they will be followed by research staff
  • Testimonials
  • Genetic Testing

One of our most recent campaigns is petitioning the state of Indiana to enact a law that requires insurance companies to cover the costs of Clinical Trials for patients. Many states already have laws such as this, while patients in Indiana must go without. We find this to be unacceptable and are in the process of attempting to create change.

The NICRC Patient Advocacy Group is always looking for new members. If you are interested in becoming a Patient Advocate, contact our phone at (574) 647-7049 or send us an email at nicrcpatientadvocates@yahoo.com.
